Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which participants (called 'geocachers') use a Global Positioning System receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called 'geocaches' or 'caches') anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and 'treasure' (usually toys or trinkets of little monetary value).

If you had a GPS, would you go geocaching?

My Mom bought her GPS to geochache, and if I ever got one, I'd do it too to get use out of it

No. My dad has a GPS for his job. Unless I needed one for work or something, I wouldn't bother to use money on it.

I've always thought it sounded like an interesting hobby if you actually had the time.

If I had one sure. I actually found a cache by accident in Maine once.

wow.. way to judge something without trying it first. let me break down the positives for you dumb, fat, americans.

1. you go hiking which is a form of exercise.. walking back and forth from the fridge to the tv doesnt count.

2. you get to explore mother nature and perhaps even enjoy the state, local and national parks that some of your tax dollars support

3. you get to learn a new hobby/skill and maybe, just maybe, you will not get so lost when you need to find the local bar you call home.

4. you get to be a part of something bigger than monday night football.

5. you might actually get to spend some quality time with your kids, doing something that is healthy, rather than taking them to yet another WWF Raw wrestling match

6. you might actually find yourself enjoying the game of it all and meeting others that do too

7. maybe... just maybe, you become less judgemental to things you havent tried yet.

I've always thought that geocaching would be interesting, and a good hobby to get into, but I'm usually broke, and those GPS units can get quite expensive!

I do!
15 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Sunday 6/10/07 - 8:31:23 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'd try it. A friend of mine once ran into a guy who was geocaching on an island nearby here. Apparently there were about 14+ geocaches on the one island alone.

I use GPS but don't do the geocaching, I always thought it sounded geeky. I think they're great especially if you drive a lot or go on road trips - I can't remember how I drove without it before now. The TomTom ONE I've been using is the best on the market for its cost - its great. The new ONE XL is suppose to be even better though.

Yes...my son and my husband and I all go and my son loves it. To him, it's sort of like a treasure hunt. It gets everyone exercise and it's adventurous!
15 yrs ago - Monday 9/17/07 - 2:42:23 AM EST (GMT-5)
yea, i think it would be kinda fun actually
